I am English and have been living near Wuerzburg in northern Bavaria since 1992. I love speaking my native tongue, but am equally fluent in German.
I have been a certified Tour Guide in the region of Franconia – and especially for the city of Wuerzburg - since 2003. I have guided guests through the old city, the Fortress Marienberg and, of course, through the UNESCO Heritage Site, the Wuerzburg Residenz, delving into the past and bringing it to life for them. Over the years, my knowledge and enthusiasm for the history of the region – in particular for everyday life and the beliefs of bygone ages - has grown enormously. Würzburg celebrated its 1300-year Jubilee in 2004, and I participated in an intensive course of seminars to be permitted to guide the special exhibitions for that year: “Tilman Riemenschneider” (a gothic sculptor), held in the “Museum am Dom” and “Mainfraenkisches Museum”.
Since 2006 I have been introducing international guests to the fascination of franconian history, lifestyle and wine culture, during day tours along The Romantic Road to Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
My gardening hobby led me to train for the Bavarian state qualification, “Gartenerlebnis Gästeführer” (= garden experience guide) in 2012, in order to better present historical gardens. The wonderful rococo gardens in Veitshoechheim have always been a special favourite of mine and I love showing guests around.
My knowledge and experience enables me to show you that which you may otherwise not even notice. I open your eyes to uniqueness, peculiarity, the mundane, and yes, sometimes, the inexplicable. Come and share my enthusiasm!
